i've asked Ummi about it. In the kitchen just now. she was, what else, cooking. and my mother always has the best mood when cooking cuz she believes that if otherwise, it will spoil the meal.
i've decided to come clean. tell her the truth. of course initially i planned to tell her half the truth. by tellin her that i'm going to KL, which is true, and not telling her that i was going to RTW.
but i felt guilty. i felt bad. in fact, i've talked to Nafis. the dude who indoctrinated my mind and influenced me with all this rock stuffs. Ummi, its all his fault!
That was a joke. I've been wantin to go since like 4 years ago.
But Nafis adviced me not to. According to his friends there will be a lot of mat rempits and indonesians there. Bottom line: dangerous. especially for a girl.like me. how thoughtful, no?
and plus, there aint gonna be Butterfingers. Our favourite band.
But man. there's what,
Love Me Butch
Dragon Red
Dragon Red
Bittersweet

i grew up listening to more than HALF of this list in Hitz FM. I love Dragon Red. and Bittersweet. and SevenCollar T-Shirt. i've loved them since i was 15. and to see em live? of course!
Bottom line: i want to go. and it'll be my first gig. and i'll have Kimi to come with me.
so it went like,
"ummi, i nak pergi KL eh?"
"what for?"
"a concert."
"can you please get the turmeric powder for me? oh thanks. yeah, what for?"
"a concert."
"what concert?"
"nahh..ummi, its just some rock concert. You let Kimi go to KL after SPM. He'll come with me."
"No..when it is?"
"26th"
"No manja, I cant let you."
In her eyes I am still her little daughter. Still her manja. I'm 19 mother. I'm turning 20 next year. in 4 years time I'll be teaching. and maybe a few years after that, get married to a handsome, sweet young chap. i'm leaving you soon.
you must let me go. lets start off with a concert, okay?
i am no longer the teenager that bangs the door or cries in my room, sulks and skip my meals (hunger strikes) when mother says NO. So i asked her,
"why not?"
"well what if your aunt finds out?"
"i'll worry about that when it happens. if it happens. but mom, what would auntie do in a rock concert?"
"what if she passes by or something?"
"ummi..please...plus, when else shall i ever go to a gig?"
"gig?"
"yeah, gig, rock concert."
"when you start working, you can go where ever you want. Like your aunt, she's going to Indonesia next month. No one's stopping her, no?"
its like we were playing chess.
"But mi, when I start working I'm a teacher. Teachers dont go to rock concerts."
"and you suppose future teachers do?"
checkmate.
"ummi..please....let me go, okay?"
"set the table up for lunch."
well, as much as i love rock, i love Ummi more. so, if my Ummi wont let me when I ask her again tonight, then i guess...i wont be going. there's a lot of things in my life that ummi warned me not to do and i took that risk. and i regretted. i dont want it to happen again next time. so i will, and forever be, my ummi's manja daughter.
this is not something worth going against my Ummi for, no? No ACAB even. and 30bucks for 19 bands? please.
